After decades of painting all possible subjects such as Portrait, animal, river, beach, and from landscape to seascape, it strikes me that after all these years my obsession for Color as an abstraction of Light, just like with many aging painters is getting bigger and bigger, and the abstraction in the subject “Water Lilies” also turns out to be an interesting, inexhaustible source of inspiration for me.
All painterly technical elements that are important for a painter, impressionist can be found in a subject like this, the expression of the form, in its abstraction, and upholstery, reflections - water - space - moods - etc.
I don't want to let go of Impressionism, to evolve towards e.g. general Abstraction, perhaps a bit towards Abstract-Impressionism, which is certainly interesting.
As a painter I remain fascinated by the beauty of color (the abstraction of light)...
BIOGRAPHY ; Pierre van Dijk was born on 5 June 1950 in ’s-Hertogenbosch. At the age of only 4 Pierre wants to draw and paint in all quiet. On his tenth birthday he is given his first ‘real’ set of oil paint, palette and canvas. Brief summary; now in 2022.
